SF Mayor Newsom: "No Pattern" in Attack on Jews

San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom said there was "no apparent pattern" in the aftermath of an Afghan man's SUV rampage through the streets of San Francisco yesterday, resulting in one dead and more than a dozen injured.

Yet, as postings at Michelle Malkin and Hugh Hewitt point out, many if not most of the casualties occurred in the immediate vicinity of Jewish-oriented facilities and neighborhoods. One of the most-seen photographs of the aftermath is of a pile of bloody rags on the sidewalk outside the Jewish Community Center on the corner of Presidio and California Streets. Little Green Footballs reports that Omeed Aziz Popal, the 29-year-old Afghan killer driver, proclaimed himself a terrorist. LGF also speculates that Popal's attacks may have been in retaliation for a recent accident outside his mosque, in which an elderly man hit 11 people in a group outside the Abu Bakr Siddiq mosque.

We shouldn't be surprised by Mayor Newsom's comments, I guess. He's just a typical knee-jerk liberal, and this incident didn't fit into his liberal mindset of Israel/Jews/Christians/America bad, gays/Muslims/terrorists good. There is no doubt in my mind that if this has been a white man running down a number of blacks and Muslims with an SUV, Mayor Newsom would have been screaming "Racism!" and "Hate crime!" at the top of his moonbat lungs.

Frankly, this is the type of terrorist incident that worries me more than a larger 9/11 or 7/7 type of incident. There is no pre-incident conspiracy here, no money transfers or travel patterns or communications to monitor or track. There is no group of people plotting together, with the chance that one will get picked up or turn on the group. The San Francisco attack, along with the Seattle attack and the UNC attack, were carried out by one individual - almost impossible to prevent. I'm certain today that people near Jewish Community Centers across the country are being a bit more vigilant today.

"Pro-Life" Administration Supports More & Easier Abortions

Cross-posted at Ordinary Everyday Christian:

Another left turn by a "conservative" administration, this time by Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach, acting commissioner of the Food & Drug Administration and an appointee of our "pro-life" president:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Women may buy the morning-after pill without a prescription - but only with proof they're 18 or older, federal health officials ruled Thursday, capping a contentious 3-year effort to ease access to the emergency contraceptive.

Girls 17 and younger still will need a doctor's note to buy the pills, called Plan B, the Food and Drug Administration told manufacturer Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. (BRL).

The compromise decision is a partial victory for women's advocacy and medical groups that say eliminating sales restrictions could cut in half the nation's 3 million annual unplanned pregnancies.

This shouldn't really be a surprise, though - it was earlier this week that "pro-life" President Bush declared his support for the morning-after pill.

Roman Catholic Blog sums up the matter quite well: " 'Plan B' is a euphemism for abortion in a pill."

So now we have a new, federally approved way to kill more babies - as if the million to million-and-a-half we've been killing each year weren't enough.

Let me leave you with this thought: As we approach the fifth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, which killed almost 3,000 people, remember that, on average, the American abortion industry kills 3,000 people-to-be every day.

Hezbollah & UN 1, Israel 0

I don't know what surprised me more about the recent ceasefire between Israeli and Hezbollah: the fact that Israel accepted the cease-fire and surrendered, or that the U.S. was a key player in forcing her to do so.

Yes, I used the word "surrender," for that is what Israel did. She lost. None of her goals were met. You do remember Israel's war goals, don't you? Let's review:

  1. Remove Hezbollah's military capacity.
  2. Remove Hezbollah from southern Lebanon.
  3. Stop attacks on northern Israel.
  4. Achieve the release of the Israeli soldiers taken captive.

Well, judging by yesterday's attempted rocket attack, Hezbollah has neither lost their military capacity nor been removed from southern Lebanon. It's unclear whether the rockets malfunctioned or whether Hezbollah was attempting to hit Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, so we may have seen an attempted attack on northern Israel already. And, finally, not word one about the captive Israeli soldiers.

Now northern Israel's security is dependent on Secretary General Kofi "Got a contract for my son?" Annan (who was at best reluctant to condemn the rocket attacks and kidnappings that started this war), and on the Lebanese "Army" (which has shown an inability and/or lack of desire to control Hezbollah).

Of course, we haven't heard word one from the UN about the responsibilities of Syria and Iran in feeding the Hezbollah terror machine.

And all of this with the assistance of Secretary of State Rice and with at least the acquiescence of President Bush.

I half-expect to see George W. Bush morph into Neville Chamberlain coming down the steps of an airplane waving a piece of paper and yammering about "peace in our time." Of course, that temporary "peace" was followed by the Second World War and the Holocaust.

Memo to DailyKos Democrats: Global War on Terror Continues

TO: DailyKos Democrats
FROM: Conservative Bulldog
SUBJECT: Global War on Terror Continues

Okay, so you managed to hijack the Connecticut Senate primary and get KosKid Lamont the nomination - based solely on opposing the Global War on Terror (Iraq edition).

Now we wake up today to this: Britain Thwarts Airline Terror Plot; UK, US Raise Security Threat Levels:

British authorities said Thursday they had disrupted a well-advanced "major terrorist plot" to blow up passenger flights between the United Kingdom and the United States using liquid explosives, prompting a full-scale security clampdown at U.S. and British airports and a cascade of delays in transatlantic flights.

The UK is on a full-scale terrorist alert; the U.S. has increased the terror level to red for aviation. The UK is banning all carry-on luggage; the U.S. is banning virtually all liquids.

The point of mentioning all this? Simple:

The Global War on Terror continues.

You can nominate all the Ned "Bring the Troops Home Now" Lamonts you want. You can slander the name of a good man like Joe Lieberman all you want. You can go to nutroots sites like DailyKos, MyDD, or Firedoglake and pat yourselves on the back for the blackface picture and ridiculing Senator Lieberman's wife's name and all that. But it doesn't change the simple fact that:

The Global War on Terror continues.

Responsible people understand that. And they will continue to fight it. Go sit at the kids' table and let the adults do the real work.

Michelle Malkin: "Imminent," "massive" jihad UK plot foiled; goal: "mass murder on an unimaginable scale"

Conservative Bulldog Endorses Joe Lieberman for CT Senate

I'm proud to use my maiden post at my new Townhall blog to endorse Joe Lieberman's independent bid for the U.S. Senate seat from Connecticut. Although too liberal for my tastes in many areas, when it comes to the Global War on Terror, he gets it. Joe Lieberman is the last of the Scoop Jackson-style "national security Democrats" - who vote the party line on most social programs and taxes, but believe in a strong national defense and active (though not overly interventionist) involvement overseas.

There is no other rational choice in the Connecticut Senate race. Ned Lamont, darling of the KosKids, bought his way into the Democratic nomination with millions of dollars (his, and the KosKids', and George Soros', etc.). He has no policy on any issue except "Bring Our Troops Home Now." That would make an interesting commercial for Lieberman: "Ned Lamont on saving Social Security: 'Bring Our Troops Home Now.' Ned Lamont on global warming: 'Bring Our Troops Home Now.' Ned Lamont on Medicare Plan D: 'Bring Our Troops Home Now.'"

And if nothing else, Joe Lieberman is a decent man. He refused to use the Lamont-style tactics of racist literature and race-baiting and Photoshopping to the lowest orders (a la Jane Hamsher & Firedoglake & MyDD & DailyKos & HuffingtonPost).

There is no sane alternative in Connecticut. The Republican candidate has several scandals in his checkered past, and hasn't once polled over 15 percent. The Connecticut seat WILL remain in Democratic hands come November, no matter what. The question is: Will it be in the hands of Joe Lieberman, a national security Democrat? Or Ned Lamont, a cut-and-run, KosKid Democrat?

Once the hacked websites are back up and running, I encourage you to go to Joe 2006 or Lieberman 2006 and make a contribution.
